Some privacy considerations About posting private information on the internet: Growing concerns about privacy invasion by nefarious business practices and by our government is quite serious to many people, and worthy of mentioning a few items here: Please be aware that even though the data entry page is password guarded, and there are no covert functions on this site whatsoever; the data posted here is still exposed to spammers' email address data-mining engines, and exposed to the public eyes who read information you post on the public page. Please consider guarding your private information such as phone numbers, physical addresses, private email addresses, etc. Before you post your private email address, please remember that Spam freaks use email mining engines to search for email addresses on the internet, including guestbooks, forums, etc. You can spoof those engines by entering your email address with the word "AT" rather than the "@" (like "yoursATyourdomain"). Most people will recognize it as an email address and email you manually rather than the @ automatically calling up an email form-page. It is the @ protocol that calls up the email form-page from your computer, and the same protocol is searched for by email mining engines. You also might consider obtaining a free anonymous email account at any number of email servers. I have been using several anonymous email accounts at Hotmail for several years, free, with no problems other than the Spam they suck up having been posted on the internet, in guestbooks, and such. I used Yahoo for a short time before discovering they use spyware and questionable privacy practices. |
